Thus, Freepik decided to implement the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in some of the most relevant features of the company’s ecosystem, announcing a new search engine based on Artificial Intelligence or search by image on Freepik, as well as innovative features in Wepik and Slidesgo, such as the text-based image generator, Background Remover, or AI Presentation Maker.

The reception by its users has been extremely positive, and these are the figures that reflect the results of Freepik’s relationship with Artificial Intelligence:

  • In four months, there have been over 6.4 million searches by image, with a daily average of 53,333 searches (including photos, vectors, and PSD in JPG or PNG).
  • During this period, users have generated over 1.5 million images using Freepik’s AI tools, with a daily average of 12,543 page views.
  • Freepik’s more than 42,000 contributors from around the world have published 7.5 million AI-generated images.
  • The platform’s users have created more than 2.3 million presentations with the AI Presentation Maker tool.
  • In just four months, the new Freepik search engine has been able to reduce 404 errors (the error that appears when the search or page does not exist) to only 0.6%, thanks to AI.
  • This improvement in search results has allowed Freepik to achieve a global SDR increase of +1.7% (user satisfaction with the results the search engine provides based on the resource they are looking for).

“Freepik not only embraces the arrival of Artificial Intelligence but will also do its best to help designers maximize all its possibilities, implementing real actions and features that will positively impact them,” says Joaquín Cuenca, CEO, and co-founder of Freepik Company.

“Definitely, contrary to those who view this technology as a threat, our goal is to democratize AI by making it available to all types of users, regardless of their level of knowledge, through highly usable platforms and apps. We don’t just make promises or use empty words; sharing this data is a clear example of our real commitment to this amusing technology,” adds Cuenca.

Images to reach the Moon https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/green-moon-freepik/ Thu, 06 Jul 2023 07:31:08 +0000 https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/?p=29186 Graphic images and videos are important even to reach the Moon. Proof of this is the collaboration of two Spanish entities, with not only an international dimension, but also an interplanetary one.

Green Moon Project is the project run by José María Ortega, a young engineer from Malaga who is developing a plan to provide fresh food to future human settlements on the Moon, Mars or even in space stations. Thus supporting the life supply systems of future manned missions in space, not only by generating food but also oxygen and carbon dioxide removal. In this way, from the laboratory in Granada (Spain), they are studying how to create greenhouses on the lunar surface, doing tests with volcanic soil from the Canary Island of Lanzarote, the most similar to the lunar regolith that the Apollo 14 Mission brought to Earth, to cultivate fast-growing vegetables such as lettuce, carrots, tomatoes or radishes that will provide nutrients and vitamins to the future astronauts.

To explain this ambitious project, Freepik, the Malaga-based technology company and international leader in the production and distribution of graphic and audiovisual resources, has helped Green Moon Project describe its idea with images and explain its goals, mission and challenges.

In this way, the Freepik Content team has worked on the design of the corporate identity of the “Green Moon Project” as well as the creation of an explanatory video using 3D images.

As Joaquín Cuenca, CEO of Freepik says “Freepik’s mission is to help people express the power of their ideas, as we have done in this non-profit collaboration where we want to support a very interesting technological initiative coming out of Malaga. Thus, we have translated this incredible project into images to help them convey their ideas and make the great dream of cultivating beyond planet Earth a reality”.

José María Ortega, Director of the Green Moon Project, comments that “being able to explain this project through images was crucial to making it known and, in that sense, all the graphic and audiovisual assets that Freepik is generating are being key for us”.

El Sol arrives in Malaga with Freepik https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/freepik-el-sol/ Wed, 31 May 2023 12:06:11 +0000 https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/?p=29147 31st May 2023, Malaga, Spain – Freepik, the leading platform for high-quality audiovisual content, will be one of the sponsors of El Sol, the Ibero-American Festival of Advertising Communication, a reference in Spain and Latin America, which this year will take place in the city of Malaga from June 8th to 9th.

El Sol, which celebrates its 37th edition this year, will continue to vindicate creativity as a transformative force and a business driver. This concept is also supported by Freepik, which, thanks to its ecosystem of platforms including Flaticon, Slidesgo, Videvo, Iconfinder, and Wepik, has positioned itself as an important design tool for its more than 100 million monthly users, empowering creatives and content creators worldwide.

As part of the festival program, Freepik will be involved in two activities closely aligned with creativity in the field of new technologies: a panel discussion on the impact of AI in advertising and an exhibition of posters redesigned through AI.

On Thursday, June 8th, in the afternoon, a colloquium and open debate titled “From briefing to prompt: new ways of advertising with AI” will be held at Cine Albeniz. In this session, participants will share their experiences and insights on how AI is having an impact on the advertising industry and how professionals can make the most of generative tools.

The panel will include Isabelita Virtual, visual artist and former creative director of Meta, Verónica Elizondo, Chief Creative Officer of Conill USA and member of El Sol 2023 jury, Carlos Cantú, CMO at Freepik, and Alejandro Di Trolio, Executive Creative Director of Cheil Worldwide and member of El Sol 2023 jury.

Charla Debate El Sol

On the other hand, starting from June 2nd, an exhibition titled “El Sol through Freepik and AI” will be displayed in the streets of Malaga. This exhibition will feature a series of posters from previous editions of El Sol, redesigned through Artificial Intelligence, alongside the human creativity of the Freepik team.

As Carlos Cantú, CMO at Freepik, comments, “the match between Freepik and El Sol has come about in a very natural way, as both of us are united by creativity, our international perspective, and our commitment to integrate Artificial Intelligence as an ally for professionals in the advertising sector. Therefore, this collaboration made more sense than ever this year with the landing of its 37th edition in Malaga.”

For Miguel Olivares, director of El Sol, “the arrival of El Sol in Malaga confirms the city’s leadership in many aspects such as technology, business network, and creativity. It was important for us to have native companies, leading their sector internationally like Freepik, accompany us in this edition that takes place in their city of origin, to which they are deeply connected without losing their global vision.”

Reimagining rejection for designers: Freepik announces winners of ‘Undead Ideas’ competition https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/winner-undead-ideas/ Thu, 11 May 2023 11:10:33 +0000 https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/?p=29125 11th May 2023, Málaga, Spain – Freepik – the leading platform for high-quality audiovisual content – announces the winners of its ‘Undead Ideas’ competition, which recognises the work of designers from all over the world. Coinciding with last month’s Design Day and Developed with US-based and award-winning advertising agency We Believers, the campaign was a call to action for designers to celebrate their best ideas rejected by a client.

Ukraine-based art director, designer and illustrator, Iraida Bearlala, won the audience choice category for her quirky food poster collection, and Philippines-based graphic designer and illustrator, Rob Wapaño, won the judges’ choice for his abstract illustration of ‘strife, hardship, and peril’. Both winners have their entire project featured on Freepik’s website, where they will receive a financial reward every time someone downloads their work. In addition to the winners’ assets, people can still make use of and download all participants’ entries here.

Commenting on her work, Iradida Bearlala said: “I like to try new things in illustration and design. Delicious food brings joy and makes people kinder – just like good drawings!” Following his win, Rob Wapaño added: “Freepik did an awesome job on organizing this initiative. I am truly grateful for being chosen, and I appreciate the opportunity to showcase my work. Winning has inspired me to become an even better illustrator, designer, and artist.”

‘Undead Ideas’ received impressive engagement from the creative industry globally – especially in the US and Latin America. 62 designs were submitted in total (of which 27 were selected for the next phase of the competition) and 2,192 votes were received. The initiative has been also backed by important international creatives who have experienced first-hand what it’s like to have a creative idea or passion project canned. Keep an eye out for the video on Freepik’s LinkedIn to hear from New York-based artists Giulia Zoavo, Samuel Regan, Paulo Junger, Arthur Daraujo and Max Kolo; California’s Tyler Spangler; Franklin Gomez in New Jersey; and Argentina’s Juan Cavia.

Carlos Cantú, CMO at Freepik, said: “It’s been great to see that this campaign has helped generate awareness about the realities and struggles of being a creative. The whole community has truly got behind ‘Undead Ideas’ – I think because it’s all too real for so many of us”.

“At Freepik, we work with designers, illustrators, and creatives every day, and are wholeheartedly on their side. We want to celebrate creativity, not squash it! There is a graveyard of rejected ideas out there and it’s been amazing to see some of these come to life.”

Lucas Panizza, Executive Creative Director at We Believers added, “We’re stoked about how our first campaign for Freepik turned out. Thankfully, they’re the kind of client who’s all about embracing ideas, not shutting them down.”

Freepik launches ‘Undead Ideas’ campaign for designers to reimagine rejection https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/freepik-undead-ideas/ Tue, 25 Apr 2023 08:11:08 +0000 https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/?p=29109 25th April 2023, Málaga, Spain – Today, Freepik – the leading platform for high-quality audiovisual content – announces the launch of its global ‘Undead Ideas’ initiative, including a competition, which will recognize the work of designers from all over the world. Coming the same week as International Design Day (Thursday 27th April), this is a call to action for designers to share their best ideas rejected by a client, so the work doesn’t go to waste.

Developed with US-based and award-winning advertising agency We Believers, ‘Undead Ideas’ is backed by important international designers and creatives, who echo the action and support the project, as they have experienced first-hand what the rejection of a great idea means. Among them are New York-based artists Giulia Zoavo, Samuel Regan, Juan Sebastian Moreno, Paulo Junger, Arthur Daraujo and Max Kolo; California’s Tyler Spangler and Jesse Nyberg; Miami’s Kiko Rodriguez; South Carolina’s Spencer Nelsony; Franklin Gomez in New Jersey; and Argentina’s Juan Cavia.

The deadline for competition entries is Thursday 4th May at 11:59pm CEST. From here, the winners will be decided by a combination of Freepik’s own team and the popular vote of the company’s followers on social media. Winners of the Photo and Illustration categories will be highlighted as a ‘Featured Artist’ on Freepik’s website, where they will be able to showcase their entire project and receive a financial reward every time someone downloads their work.

Even after the competition has closed, people can still make use of all participants’ entries, so all efforts can make an impact. Giving visibility to the ideas that the client killed, Freepik invites all those owners of rejected projects to upload them to its ‘Undead Ideas’ initiative landing page: http://www.freepik.com/undead-ideas

Commenting on this news, Carlos Cantú – CMO at Freepik – said: In Freepik’s 13-year history, we have worked with countless designers from all over the world, so we understand first-hand their frustrations and challenges. We’ve all been there: burning the midnight oil to perfect an idea that a client’s initially keen on, only for it to be rejected last-minute”.

Across the graphic design industry, turnover is rife, with nearly a quarter (24%) of designers leaving their jobs in their first year of employment. Burnout is a key culprit here, with 12-hour days too commonplace. For designers, the negative effects of this are exacerbated when their hard work ends up in the trash, hours of effort spent for nothing.

“At Freepik, we believe brilliant ideas and amazing designs deserve to have a second chance. That’s why we’ve launched ‘Undead Ideas’, not just to recognise designers’ work but also to reward their effort and talent. By reimagining darkness for designers, we can let the light in.”

Lucas Panizza, Executive Creative Director at We Believers, added “We believe anyone working in the creative field will feel represented by this campaign. Let’s be honest: recycling or rewriting ideas is a common practice. This is like revenge for when a client, a boss, or a focus group kills a beloved project. We turned the graveyard section of the deck into the undead ideas program.”

Freepik announces video vertical launch and fresh momentum data https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/freepik-video/ Tue, 11 Apr 2023 08:13:35 +0000 https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/?p=29067 11th April 2023, Málaga, Spain – Today, Freepik – the European leading platform for high-quality audiovisual content – announces the launch of video assets, expanding its fingerprint in the media resources market.

Now, all users can access high-quality videos for free – which encompass a wide variety of general content targeted at professionals – directly from Freepik, rather than being redirected elsewhere. Premium users can also access an even wider, exclusive range of video resources for no extra cost for limited time.

The news follows a recent study revealing that 91% of consumers want to see more online video content from brands, while 86% of marketing professionals use video as a marketing tool – so increasing access to video resources is much needed. In the US alone, more than 75% of adults spend up to two hours per day watching short-form digital video content – a substantial market that will only increase.

Along with the video launch, Freepik today also announces new momentum-focused company data:

  • 600,000 subscribers
  • 8bn downloads to date
    • Up from 6’5bn in 2021
  • 65m unique monthly users
    • Up from 40m in 2021
  • More than 45m graphic resources – including icons, vectors, photos, and templates
    • Up from 27m in 2021
  • A network of over 600 in-house freelancer graphic, 3D, and mockup designers and photographers
    • Up from 380 in 2021
  • 23,000+ external contributors
    • Up from 18,000 in 2021

Following major milestones last year – including three acquisitions, international expansion, an ex-Twitter C-suite hire, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) – this announcement helps propel Freepik to its next phase of growth.

Commenting on this news, Martin LeBlanc, Chief Product Officer at Freepik, said: “At Freepik, we’re excited to empower users to create moving stories with video. The design asset market is booming – but there’s always room for improvement. By adding footage and motion graphics to their designs, people can tell a compelling story that evokes emotion. By researching, testing, and perfecting the user experience – powered by a first-rate portfolio – we expect demand for audiovisual content to grow exponentially.”

Tom Limb, Head of Video at Freepik Company added, “Freepik is a market leader in visuals, icons and presentations so adding in-house video to our platform was a natural next step. Now our users will be empowered to take their visual storytelling to the next level.”

Freepik named one of the best companies in Spain to work for in 2023 by Great Place to Work® https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/freepik-best-company-2023/ Fri, 31 Mar 2023 10:14:21 +0000 https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/?p=29091 31st March 2023, Málaga, Spain – Freepik Company, the leading European tech company specialized in producing and distributing graphic and audiovisual resources, has been recognized by Great Place to Work® as one of the best companies to work for in Spain in the category of 251 to 500 employees. This certification adds to its recognition a few weeks ago as the best company to work for in Malaga.

The national ranking, which celebrates its 21st edition this year, was made public yesterday at the awards ceremony held at the “Museo del Traje” in Madrid by the consulting firm Great Place to Work®, a leader in building and certifying Excellent Places to Work. Freepik ranked number 12 out of the 394 companies analyzed in Spain by the consulting firm, based on the shared opinion of more than 380,000 employees.

Freepik has stood out as an organization with a high-trust culture, and a highly motivated workforce, as shown by the results of the organizational environment diagnostic survey answered by its employees. The survey specifically evaluated 5 major blocks: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.

In this last block, Freepik obtained high scores in the 3 aspects evaluated: close relationships, hospitality, and collaboration with 96, 94, and 95 out of 100 points, respectively, figures that are above the average for companies in their sector.

Also noteworthy are fairness and workplace care, both criteria evaluated with 95 points, and the team and organization, with 92 points out of 100.

Furthermore, 89% of Freepik Company employees declare having total or fair confidence in the company’s management committee, and 92% consider that they are encouraged to balance their professional and personal life, with the latter index being 9 points above the average of companies analyzed within the work-life balance criteria.

According to Marta Sisí, Head of HR at Freepik Company, “being recognized as the Best Company to Work for in Spain is a recognition of the entire company, from the General Management to our work in the Human Resources team, but above all, to the colleagues who every day strive to do their best at work, but also to build a pleasant, collaborative and fair work environment. This recognition endorses our work-life balance policies, flexible work arrangements, and career plans on which we have focused our efforts in the last year.”

“Freepik Company is a story of success and overcoming based on a spectacular culture. Congratulations on their entry into the National Best Workplaces Ranking,” says Álvaro Martínez, Regional Manager at Great Place to Work.

Great Place to Work® a reference in the industry

Great Place to Work® is the consulting firm that for over 30 years has been working with companies around the world to identify, create, and maintain high-trust, high-performance cultures, helping organizations become Best Places to Work.

To qualify for this recognition, the consulting firm Great Place to Work conducts a survey among the entire workforce of the evaluated companies regarding their workplace. Their responses are independently processed and the firm surveys over 50 million people worldwide annually.

To enter the Ranking of Best Companies to Work for in Spain (by Great Place to Work®), the teams’ evaluation of the company must be at least 70% on the Trust Index©. Additionally, it is necessary to provide information about the policies and practices on Care and People Management.

Evolution of the Freepik Company team

The Spanish technology company has nearly 500 employees only in Spain and a total of 567 people including teams from the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Colombia. This is due to the recent acquisitions of international companies such as Videvo, Iconfinder, and Original Mockups.

Their team grew by 49% in 2022 compared to the previous year, when they had 380 people, showing unstoppable growth since its creation in 2010. Looking ahead to 2023, they are working on consolidating their workforce and retaining high levels of talent, as well as incorporating IT profiles.

In the coming months, these profiles will be incorporated into the workforce and will be related to the development of Artificial Intelligence, an area in which Freepik Company is a pioneer. Thus, the most demanded profiles will be focused on developing projects around this technology such as Data Scientists, specialized Front-end teams, and Product Design and Full Stack profiles.

Slidesgo celebrates its fourth anniversary and strengthens its leadership in the U.S. https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/slidesgo-fourth-anniversary/ Wed, 15 Feb 2023 09:59:59 +0000 https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/?p=29018 Freepik Company celebrates 4 years of life of Slidesgo, its platform for presentation templates, which triumphs worldwide with almost 27 million registered users and 140 million templates downloaded.

Among the most searched topics are “Education”, with 23.4M searches, indicating the great interest of the education sector in this platform. It is followed by “Business” (11.4M searches) and “Marketing” (8.5M searches). As for the most searched style, we find “Aesthetic”, with 5.3M searches, one of the aesthetic and fashion trends in recent months.

66.4% of the platform’s premium subscribers are users from the U.S. and 18.27% of the total number of downloads worldwide in 2022 were produced in the U.S., proving the success of the Spanish platform in this territory.

This international growth has been constant since its beginning in 2019, when Slidesgo was developed by Freepik Labs, the Freepik Company’s project incubator that works as its own digital accelerator, developing and innovating new projects. Esmeralda Baños, Head of Product at Slidesgo, emphasizes that “like Freepik, Slidesgo’s main objective is to provide users with quality resources and creative solutions so that they can create presentations with which to express their ideas to their full potential. To achieve this, we are continually adding new content and formats, following both design trends and current events, and we are also integrating Artificial Intelligence functionalities that will help our users to have unbeatable presentations”. Baños continues: “The fact that the U.S. is the country where Slidesgo has the highest penetration is very significant, as it is a very competitive market where aesthetics is key in many professional and personal aspects”.

As a result, in the U.S., the platform is used in numerous professional centers, universities – such as the Stanford Center for Professional Development (Stanford University) – or educational centers, such as Casa Grande High School, located in Petaluma (USA). Pamela Kester-McNees, Spanish teacher at this center, says: “Students have the opportunity to use real-world tools in a safe and controlled environment, the school. In addition, they can see many ways (through the templates) to organize information to communicate their messages”. Pamela adds, “with Slidesgo, students learn to use new tools that connect well with Google Slides and Flaticon. Now they even use it in other classes, not just mine, since the Teams account gives them access to a greater number of templates and downloads”.

Freepik Company’s team grows by 49% in 2022 https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/freepik-companys-team-grows-by-49-in-2022/ Fri, 23 Dec 2022 14:34:34 +0000 https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/?p=28980 In a complicated context such as the present one, in which many large international technology companies are immersed in massive layoffs, Freepik Company is positioned as a technology company that ends 2022 with a high rate of incorporations.

In this way, the Spanish technology company, specialized in the production and distribution of graphic resources, already exceeds 500 employees, reaching a total of 567 people, after the acquisitions of the international companies Videvo, Iconfinder and Original Mockups. Thus, Freepik Company has 471 people in Spain and, as a result of the acquisitions, it has people in the United Kingdom from Videvo, people in Denmark from Iconfinder, and in the Freepik LATAM offices in Colombia, after the integration of the Original Mockups team.

According to Javier González, COO of Freepik Company, “this 49% increase in the number of employees, in a year in which many technology companies have had to cut their workforce, reaffirms our status as a rara avis in the sector: founded exclusively with its own resources, and in Malaga (outside the traditional circuit), and, in addition, growing in a sustained and healthy way in every way. In 2023 we are committed to consolidating our workforce, talent and consolidating our position in the creativity and graphic resources sector”.

Sustained growth by 2023

Freepik Company foresees a sustained growth in 2023, with a consolidation of the workforce and high talent retention, plus the incorporation of different profiles over the next year, distributed in its offices in Spain, Colombia and the United Kingdom.

Many of these profiles, which will join the team in the coming months, will be related to the development of Artificial Intelligence, where Freepik Company is a pioneer. Thus, the most demanded profiles will be focused on developing projects around this technology such as Data Scientist, teams specialized in Front and Product Design and Full Stack profiles.

For Marta Sisí, Head of HR at Freepik Company, “the Freepik Company team has not stopped growing strongly since 2018, but this year has been especially important and exciting for the HR team. The workforce has grown a lot, not only in number but also in geographic locations and profile types. In addition, we have incorporated new benefits for employees and we have greatly incentivized general and specific training for the workforce. It is not in vain that we have been recognized with the Great Place to Work certificate and we lead this ranking in Malaga. 2022 has also been the first year in which we have been able to develop a CSR plan “Design your Future”, of which we are particularly proud, and which we will promote even more in 2023″.

The dystopian future is already here: from the imperfection of the human to Artificial Intelligence https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/the-dystopian-future-is-already-here-from-the-imperfection-of-the-human-to-artificial-intelligence/ Fri, 23 Dec 2022 14:22:52 +0000 https://wordpress-pro-3928501.cdnpk.net/freepikcompany/?p=28970 Freepik Company, a Spanish technology company specialized in the production and distribution of graphic resources, which sets global trends thanks to its 134 million monthly visits from all over the world, presents its Visual Trends 2023 report, a guide to the main aesthetic and visual trends in photos, icons, vectors and mockups that will have an impact on visual communication in 2023.

The report shows how this almost dystopian reality in which we live, where things happen that we could never have imagined, influences design, which explains the social and cultural context in which we live and reflects not only the mood of the planet, but also our desires and expectations for the future.

In Visual Trends 2023 coexist from the most natural trends that want to capture the most everyday reality, with retro elements that take us to the 90’s and with the rise of the most avant-garde 3D designs, all this, seasoned with a layer of Artificial Intelligence that will open a world of infinite possibilities.

As Carlos Cantú, Chief Marketing Officer of Freepik Company, says “Visual Trends is a one-year visioning exercise in which, thanks to our experience providing graphic resources to the entire planet, we elaborate our projection of the visual trends for the new year. We have been publishing this report for 4 years now with the aim to inspire designers in their visual communication actions but also to help content creators understand what designs will flood social networks, street posters, advertising or even their own t-shirts.”

Visual Trends in Photography: The Imperfection of the Human

We are increasingly aware of how human beings impact the environment around them and how that same environment leaves its own imprint on each of us. Photography trends in 2023 will be marked by our desire to capture simple, imperfect but beautiful moments, highlighting natural bodies and putting ourselves and our loved ones in the spotlight.

This translates into the imperfection of the human, where we transmit without fuss key messages such as integration and inclusion. This trend puts us in front of a mirror where we see real humans in photographs, honest and pure portraits that convey emotions at first sight. You can see The Human collection here.

Visual Trends in Mockups: Eco to Support Humans

If the human and our family is going to be what we will see in the photographs of 2023, a trend attached to it will logically be the care of its environment. Thus, for society, the fight against climate change has become a priority and, therefore, the trend towards eco-responsible products is on the rise. As a result, society is dragging the brands themselves to share these values of sustainability and they are increasingly venturing to create mockups with colors and textures that reflect nature in their packaging.

The idea is to convey a strong and committed message through natural elements to show the way to a greener future to take care of what we love the most. You can see the Eco Mockup collection here.

Visual Trends in Illustrations: Reality Bites of nostalgia

It is curious that the iconic grunge movie of the 90’s was called Reality Bites, as it encompasses the trend of showing the most stark and beautiful reality of 2023, with another trend that we will live this year: the nostalgia of the 90’s and the return to its style icons like grunge and pop and even the Y2K and vaporwave style of the early 00’s.

Thus, vectors will be filled with this retro style and illustrations, stickers, labels and a multitude of graphic formats such as posters, logos and banners will reflect this trend.

Being nostalgic is the new cool thing. These graphic effects with strong colors, childish patterns and a very direct aesthetic give a strong visual identity. After all, it was all foretold in the pages of Seventeen and Teenpeople. You can see the Retro and Nostalgic collection here.

Visual Trends in Templates: Vintage is going to flood even the forefront of social networks.

As we were saying about vectors, the nostalgic style has reached all kinds of resources and templates are a good example of this. Especially interesting are the mockups for social networks, the vanguard of current communication, which add eye-catching graphic elements to posts, which help to capture the attention of users, but with that vintage point that can be even contradictory in such a tech environment.

Thus, this retro trend, adapted to different topics such as music or food, creates emotions related to memories. It never goes out of fashion, especially because it touches the sensibility of the viewers. Who said that retro style was only acceptable in the 90’s? You can see the Retro Style collection here.

Visual Trends in Icons: The technology of the small

The smallest design unit is the icon, which in 2023 will integrate motion technology to add even more meaning. Thus we will see linear and refined icons where color change and movement of the elements will be fundamental.

Movement will transform the icon and create a more effective communicative result. Animated icons will be very present in the development of interfaces and videos, since screens are our main means of interaction. You can see the Animated Icons collection here.

Visual Trends in 3D Objects: Tech floods reality

Objects with 3D aesthetics are going to gain popularity in 2023, outside the field of video games. They are small objects with cartoon-like aesthetics, in which realism is left aside. They bet on cheerful colors, flattened and nice shapes and seem to be taken from a console or a children’s channel, offering cheerful and attractive content for the user to interact with them. Artificial Intelligence: The real revolution is just around the corner

Artificial Intelligence is going to be the true revolution in all aspects of our lives and, in design, it is going to open up unexplored worlds of possibilities, being able to obtain all kinds of resources in which the only limit is our imagination: that of a human being.

According to Iván Prado, Head of AI at Freepik Company, “a symbiotic process will be established between the content creator and the AI, giving rise to a virtuous circle that will give rise to levels of creativity never seen before. The personalized creation of resources will become widespread and will generate new and exciting creative paths to explore.”

Thus, Visual Trends 2023 presents itself as a bridge between mostly human-made design and AI-based design.

Góngora’s career within the technology company has been meteoric and in just over 3 years he has gone from SEO Manager, to being promoted to Head of Growth, to now being appointed Chief Growth Officer.

As well as being part of the management committee, from now on his functions will be to lead Freepik Company’s user acquisition strategy and expand the channels and formulas for attracting users. To do so, he has a team of 12 people distributed in two working groups, specialized in SEO and Outreach.

Góngora, with a degree in Advertising and PR from the University of Malaga and a postgraduate degree in web analytics from the OBS Business School, began his professional career in another successful startup from Malaga, Uptodown, in 2006, to later become part of the Chicfy and Todocoleccion teams.

Marta Sisi, Head of HR at Freepik Company, states that “I remember when Álex joined Freepik Company in 2019, he was the only profile we had specialized in SEO in a team of 130 people. His career since then has been brilliant and has gone from creating and implementing the first SEO positioning strategies to building a great team from scratch. It is very rewarding to see how people grow within Freepik Company and develop their full potential and talent, Álex is a great example of this”.

Góngora CGO

Finally, for Álex Góngora, Chief Growth Officer at Freepik Company, “having the opportunity to join Freepik was already a milestone in my career. It was clear to me that it was the place where I wanted to be, and the company where I could develop in the right direction. Three and a half years later, it is clear to me that I was right. It has been an incredible period where I have been fortunate to have the support of a fantastic team and an unrepeatable work environment, where everyone has the opportunity to offer the best version of themselves every day. And the most exciting thing has not been to get this far, but to think about all the challenges that still await us.”
